I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Uly Gold, a wardrobe stylist, creative director and true visual artist based between Los Angeles and Australia. Her work has appeared on magazines like Teen Vogue, Elle, Seventeen and more. Uly is recognized in the industry for her amazing vision and her artistic talent to create iconic looks.
We were able to talk about her personal style, how she got into styling, source of inspiration and more. Catch our interview with Uly below!
Q: Describe your style in three words.
A: Classic, illustrious, trendsetter.
Q: Who are your style muses?
A: Too many to name but today I’m feeling Grace Jones, Jean Paul Gaultier, Helmut Newton, Donyale Luna and Vogue.
Q: How did you get your start in styling?
A: I was a designer for over 10 years & through that I was asked by Australian artists to style them which led me to LA.
Q: Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
A: Film is huge for me! Mainly classics from 50s through to 90s.
Q: What’s your approach when you first start styling someone?
A: Energy! Personality! How they feel!
Q: Who are some of your go-to designers for styling at the moment?
A: Vivienne westwood, Area, Mugler, Ottolinger, Yproject, LaQuan Smith, GCDS.
Q: Most memorable moment of your career so far?
A; Showing at Fashion week Aus & working with Kali Uchis.
Q: What advice would you give an up and coming fashion stylist?
A: Keep on creating, keep on collaborating and you’ll find your place!
