Get to Know Model: Aaron Laporte

We asked our model Aaron Laporte a few questions regarding his modeling career:

1. What made you want to become a model?

To be honest, my twin. He went to college a year before me and I took a year off and while he was in college he started modeling with a group called Legends. When he came back from college he had set up a shoot and basically begged me to be in it. I reluctantly decided to do the shoot even though I felt uncomfortable and unnatural. It wasn’t until I saw the final product that I decided I wanted to model. The pictures we took that day had started going viral and from that day my twin and I started setting up our own shoots to become better models and build our portfolios.

2. Who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration would have to be my mom because growing up things weren’t always easy yet somehow someway she always made ends meet. I was one of four children living in the house and she provided for all of us no matter what the situation was. She made sure that we got some of the greatest education Georgia had to offer, supported me through any life choices I made, and showed me that anything is possible as long as I work hard to get it.

3. What’s the most memorable moment of your career so far?

Oh that’s an easy one, definitely walking in NYFW for Pyer Moss’ 3rd Collection “Sister” in 2019. I wasn’t confirmed for the show until the morning of, so my anxiety was on 100. My twin had already been confirmed so I was ecstatic that Kerby, designer and founder of Pyer Moss, chose to book me as well! There were so many people in the crowd that my hands were literally sweating before I walked onto that platform. Words can’t explain how beautiful the show was. You would’ve just had to be there to witness it!

4. What advice would you give someone trying to become a model?

The best advice I could give to a model is for them to start building their portfolio this instant. Look at brands that you would want to work with and replicate photoshoots similar to brands you’d want to work with but add your own twist to it. That way when you submit to an agency or even send photos to a producer, they can get a gist of how you would look modeling for their brand. Some models have such a unique look that they could get scouted just walking down the street, but who wants to wait for an opportunity like that to happen when they could already be doing the footwork, getting the practice they need, and setting themselves up to be signed to an agency or working with the brand of their dreams.

5. What interests you about the possibilities of being in casting coin?

What interests me the most about being in casting coin is all of the new opportunities and clients I’m exposing myself to, especially during the times we’re living in right now. It’s not as easy to go out and network due to the pandemic, so casting coin makes this process so much easier. Everyday just by being on the casting coin platform, I’m exposing myself to new opportunities and hundreds of brands, so I’m excited to see what new work and experiences casting coin will bring!
