Photographers
Anatomy of a photoshoot in the age of Covid-19
As you all must know, Covid-19 has put a damper on many people’s jobs, especially those in the creative industry. Photographers especially have been greatly impacted, because they’re career depends on Face to Face contact. Obviously now, in the midst of a pandemic this is not ideal.
We’ve compiled a list of Do’s and Don’ts for a Covid-19 free photoshoot:
Do’s:
1.Maintain Social Distancing
Make sure to maintain a distance of at least 6’ or 2 meters at all times.
2. Clean your gear and equipment
Every photographer should clean their gear regularly, but if not, this is definitely the time to do so.
3. Wear a mask
The photographer should wear a mask at all times. The model should wear one as well when they’re not in front of the camera.
4. Go over your finances
Social distancing is resulting in a lot of canceled gigs, which means a drop in income for you. Make sure you take the time to review your finances and adapt as needed.
5. Wash your hands
Washing your hands is the biggest preventative for spreading the virus.
Don’ts:
1.Don’t go out in Public spaces
Now is not the time to be going out in crowded public places to shoot content, if you must go out, try to find a secluded place preferably outdoors.
2. Don’t share equipment
Many studies have shown that the virus can stick to surfaces for a long period of time, so sharing equipment is not ideal.
3. Don’t ignore your clients
Reach out to your clients prior to shooting, to see what works best and what you both feel comfortable with.
4. Don’t Get overwhelmed
Isolation and quarantine can really take a toll on your mental health. Make sure that you reach out to your friends and family during this tough time. Try to keep yourself busy with new tasks and projects from the comfort of your home
Stay safe everyone!
